growing up (by Lacey Price)

V__4745I have asked my daughter, Lacey, if I could share this with you. This is a note from her facebook page. I hope it is a blessing to you.

Something that has really been on my heart and mind lately is that as we grow older, we forget what really matters. In junior high and high school, it seems that being popular and fitting in are the most important. We lose sight of what matters the most. Then we go off to college. We’re finally off on our own, we can make our own decisions, we’ve got it made. But so many forget what is most important – God. Things always change. Friends, goals, opportunities…everything. Except for God.
God is always there. That’s something that I have forgotten so often. I find myself trying to live life all alone, and when I mess it up, I realize how much I need Him. He’s there to help me. He’s there to show me how faithful He is, and always will be. I’ve taken advantage of His faithfulness time and time again, but yet He still loves me. He is still able to use me to reach others for Him. Just when I think that I’ve messed things up until they are beyond repair, He speaks to me and shows me that everything is okay. I don’t understand why He loves me. Why He sent His son to die for me; to die for everyone, knowing that most would reject Him. Why He wants to be a part of my life. He has a plan for me. He has a plan for everyone. And to think that the god of the universe has an individual plan for everyone on this earth amazes me. And yet we forget so often how important it is to stay true to Him.
I’ve failed Him so many times. I don’t deserve His love or His faithfulness. But God is always faithful, even when we aren’t. He is the best friend that you could ever have. All He wants is for you to seek Him. Spend time with Him. Trust Him with your life and live for Him. It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it. And when junior high, high school, and college have all passed by, He will still be there. And how we live now will affect the future. Don’t make Him wait until you’re done with this part of your life before you live for Him. You can do so much for Him right now. And being popular is not what gets you into heaven. It isn’t what matters most. God loves you. He doesn’t care what you’ve done, where you’ve been, or how much time you’ve wasted. He just wants to be there for you. He wants you to trust Him. He loves you, more than anyone else ever could or will.
So, if you don’t know Him, please come to know Him. He does love you, and He is always there.
If you’ve lost sight of Him and have forgotten how much He loves you, He’s still there. And He still loves you just the same. I know, because I’ve been there too. I don’t understand why He still loves me, but He does, and that is something I will always be grateful for.
He gave His life for me, so I will live my life for Him.

  • Mark, This is a beautiful letter. I still find myself amazed at God’s faithfulness even when I am not being obedient to Him. He does everything so much better than I do! When I am trying to handle situations on my own, Iget rattled. If I let Him in there comes a peace that all will work out for my good. Keep your eyes upon Jesus!! I needed to read this this a.m. I don’t even know how it popped onto my screen. REALLY!!! It literally popped up. Please give Lacey my thanks
