The newscasters are all reminding us that we are in “tough times.” The stock market is suffering, the banks are busting, our IRA’s could be MIA. Where will it end? To reuse an over-used cliche, “Only the Lord knows.” I read in the newspaper last week about a 42-year-old investment banker who took his own life, because his firm collapsed. That in itself is tragic enough. He also had an 8-year-old son. Needless to say, he had his priorities skewed.
But, our Father does know where and when it will end. And between now and then, we are reminded in His Word that He is still on His throne. “Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 (nasb)
We should also remember what the psalmist said: “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread.” Psalm 37:25 (nasb)
So, take a deep breath, and rest in the fact that if our Father takes notice every time a sparrow falls to the ground, He notices and cares even more about you and me. And, because He is not only involved, but in control… it’ll be okay.
